FVR Volunteers worked nonstop to make sure Valdese Lakeside Park remained open in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. 178 hours over with 21 volunteers removing 85 trees over 7 days. Thanks to major workers Sam F and Eric H along with Brad Z, Beth H, Sam E, Marti, Jim B, Mark R, Mark B, Loretta, Melissa, Nolan, Addie, Charlie, Ray, Gavin, Jackie, Noah, Michaela, Val – the park continued to be a refuge.

It is important to keep Valdese Lakeside Park open as it is a refuge from stress, a way to keep serious health issues under control, a source of food through fishing and good for the mind, soul and body.
