Companies and individuals are contributing to the success of Valdese Lakeside Park in ways you would never think.
At this time, Valdese Leasing, LLC and Shuford Development, Inc. own the land that Lake Rhodhiss Drive sits on close to Lovelady Road — making it a private road. To access Valdese Lakeside Park via a public road (which is required for one of our grants), they have agreed to donate 6.77 acres to the Town of Valdese to make that possible. With the town owning land, the road can be officially patrolled, and speed limits posted and enforced. In addition, trails can be added beside the road and Hoyle Creek from the parking area at Lovelady Road. We are extremely grateful for this generous gift.
To help complete that gift, a survey was needed to create a new parcel for property records. We were fortunate again, this time to have local Surveyor Don Bolick. Don was willing to donate a large portion of his professional work to the project. With his in-kind donation, Friends of the Valdese Rec will have more money to pay toward the bridge that will cross McGalliard Creek.
We are grateful that so many are willing to give in so many ways to make Valdese Lakeside Park an amazing asset for our community.
