On Wednesday morning, July 3, Kellex Seating delivered 4 8-foot picnic tables to Valdese Lakeside Park. The tables were hand crafted in their factory by Kellex family members. During a past workday at the park, employees had cut down several dangerous large dead trees to get the picnic area ready.
As with any project, Kellex went above and beyond. The tables blend beautifully with the surroundings. And, for a park that only has existing trails from select cutting, this really enables the community to enjoy the natural resources at the park.
Kellex family member David Ebert was the lead on this project. From choosing the wood to tweaking the design to helping other family members contribute. To build, deliver and setup the picnic tables at park, it took 12 employees 60 hours.
The wood is clear Ash – kilned at 310 temp driving all moisture out to 0. The color is the result of that process. It is burned with heat not fire.
Friends of the Valdese Rec members also did some work to get ready for the tables by leveling the areas the tables would be placed. They also completed the short trails that take you to the picnic area.
To get to the tables, park in the grassy field, walk 0.15 mile down the greenway, turn right at the Picnic Area sign.
